Party rocking was in full effect Sunday night at The Hifi Club as 8 of Calgary's favorite djs and 2 special guests rocked the stage. The rules of the contest were simple. 3 Genres, 8 DJs, 15 minutes. You could cut the tension with a knife. A trip to Toronto to compete in the national championships was on the line, and it was time to put up or shut up.

The Holy Grill

 

We at iparty value a good meal, especially when trying to get over the night before. On a recent run around town to find a satisfying Saturday brunch we found the Holy Grill. Offering a great selection of eggs, sandwiches and burgers we settled on a burger. Now to be clear, this is not just any burger. The super burger is exactly that. 2 patties, cheddar cheese, tomato, red onions and mustard, with fries, all for less than 10 bucks. Tearing into this burger we were astounded by mix of flavors and grease, which left us walking away with smiles and a smaller headache.

Not content with accepting a one time fix to our terrifying hangovers, we went back the next weekend with interest in perfecting the miracle cure. We are excited to say we found it. Adding a little lettuce, mayo, ketchup and mustard to three patties loaded with cheddar and fried onions we found the best burger that Calgary has to offer. The extra patty cost us an extra buck, but never was the money spent so worthwhile. Walking out like heroes after our Herculean eating effort, we were off to enjoy a Saturday that became better with each minute of digestion.

We totally recommend that you check this place out. Don’t worry about the toppings the guys are so friendly they’ll let you build the burger of your choice. They offer gourmet toppings to go with all the usual suspects and serve up each specialty order with a smile. Get there early and any day but Sunday and enjoy eating again. Chances are we’ll see you there.

Firewater

Without fail every time we head out on a weekend we ingest a little Firewater. It’s almost impossible to hit up a bar without having a drink; it makes everything a little more fun. But the other night at Firewater, without a single beverage we had a kick ass time. Possibly the most exciting club in the city, Firewater boasts an incredible dance floor every Saturday night. With djs spinning an energetic mix of Hip Hop, Soca, Reggae and R&B, we hit the floor and never left. The party was bouncing, the people were dancing and a great time was had by all. We’re not quite sure where we’ll be this Saturday night, but we can tell you Firewater will be at the top of our list!
